The Wild One – 5/19/07 – Viewed on the small screen
Given its significance to the Rocker subculture and to Hollywood (due to the emergence of Marlon Brando) I knew I was going to like this before it started. In the end I did enjoy it. It was made in 1953 and it has aged very well. Brando was uber cool and Lee Marvin as Chino was the most interesting character in the movie. Marvin’s gang was called the Beatles and it is widely speculated that this is where The Beatles got their name. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club (BRMC), the name of Brando’s gang, was definitely the inspiration for the band of the same name. Another interesting tidbit is that it was banned in the UK for 13 yrs. It is a classic.
