Sunshine – 1/27/08 - Viewed on small screen
The writer and director from 28 Days Later have teamed up again with this sci-fi space thriller.  Cillian Murphy and his fellow astronauts are on a mission to re-ignite the dying sun and save the earth but inevitably end up in an atmosphere of mistrust and, predictably, a fight for their lives and their mission. Other than some elementary conflicts and a generally confusing plot, the movie is solid and original. It received a very limited release in the US and could have easily been missed by the most astute movie-goer. It’s not quite a classic of the genre like “Alien” or “2001: A Space Odyssey”, but it is interesting enough to be a must see for any sci-fi fan.
