Night of the Living Dead (1968) - 10/20/07 - Viewed on the small screen
Reviewing a classic to this extent is silly since its legacy is intact.  It is part of the lexicon of movie history and needs little further explanation.  Night of the Living Dead is a genre-defining classic and widely considered the quintessential zombie flick. While the creatures are mostly referred to as "those things" and never actually called zombies, Night of the Living Dead's creatures are considered the definition of the modern movie zombie.  This movie was made in 1968 but many of the zombie scare tactics which are seen in movies today were used and maybe invented here (slow moving zombies, cannibalism, arms reaching through barricaded windows, bullet to the head to kill zombies, etc.).  The fact that they are still making zombie movies almost exactly like this one shows how influential and ground-breaking it was.  The movie itself is very low-budget and in low quality black and white which is part of its charm.
