Lady in the Water – 9/12/07 – Viewed on the small screen
I really enjoyed M Night Shyamalan's seventh movie (critics panned it when it came out last December). Sometimes the acting was a little awkward but Giamatti's performance was great and of most importance. The plot was silly at points but overall worked pretty well and unlike other Shyamalan movies it did not hinge on a surprise ending but focused more on spiritual and storytelling themes to engage the audience. Interestingly, the plot of the movie is based on a bedtime story Shyamalan wrote for his kids.
