Charlie Wilson’s War – 2/17/08 – Viewed on the BIG Screen
I’ve never wanted to be a Congressman more than while watching this movie. Tom Hanks makes the job look like a lot of fun. This is an upbeat, optimistic movie about politics and covert wars. It's one of the funniest movies I’ve seen in a while, and considering the subject matter, this is surprising. The movie could have easily been ruined if it had been longer or explored its many sub-themes at more length. Instead the film chooses to leave those complex matters alone and gives the viewer a concise glimpse into a slice of World History. Rambo III has finally been dethroned from its reign as the best Afghan-USSR war movie!
